The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is investigating the child's death.
SALISBURY, Md. — Detectives believe a 10-year-old boy was murdered late Monday night. Now, Maryland State Police are investigating the child’s death.
The boy, whose identity is not being released at this time, was shot Monday night in Salisbury. When Salisbury Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 10:30 p.m., officers found him with an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical services brought him to Tidal Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe he was inside a house in the 200 block of Clayton Street along with his mother and two other young children at the time of the shooting. Salisbury Police Department requested help from state police, and the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took over the case, with assistance from some Salisbury officers. State police crime scene technicians processed the scene and evidence has been brought to the State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime laboratory for analysis.
Police are searching for a suspect, but no description has been provided at this time. Detectives have been interviewing witnesses and residents in the area.
