Sarah Katherine Magid was taken into custody without incident.

BURTONSVILLE, Md. — A Montgomery County woman is being charged in a fentanyl-related death of a D.C. man, the Montgomery County Department of Police said Tuesday.

The police department said the woman's arrest stems from the death of a man in March from Washington, D.C. An autopsy revealed that his cause of death was fentanyl toxicity.

After his death, investigators said they uncovered information that the victim had been in Montgomery County in the days leading up to his death.

Police say they discovered that a person named "Sarah" had been in contact with the man before his death, and they later determined that the person was Sarah Katherine Magid.

On Monday, law enforcement searched Magid's Burtonsville home. She was later taken into custody without incident.

The police department said Magid is a first-grade teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools, but police have not said that any children were involved, nor that any crimes took place on school property.

Magid is awaiting a bond hearing. No other details have been released.
