"Whether people think that’s crazy or not, I don’t even care."
There are a lot of problems surrounding The Flash. Like, it's kind of shocking this movie is coming out at all? You can read about some of them here.
To top it all off, it sounds like one of the film's biggest stars — specifically, Michael Shannon, who plays General Zod — wasn't too wild about what his role entailed.
In a recent interview with Collider, Michael revealed that returning to the DCEU as Zod "wasn't quite satisfying" — and he had a pretty specific reason why.
"These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures,” he said. “It’s like, ‘Here’s this person. Here’s that person. And they’re fighting!’"
Michael went on to say that his work on The Flash wasn't "quite the in-depth character study situation" that he felt portraying Zod in 2013's Man of Steel was. "Whether people think that’s crazy or not, I don’t even care," he added.
"I really felt like Man of Steel was actually a pretty sophisticated story," he said. "I feel like The Flash is, too, but it’s not Zod’s story. I’m basically there to present a challenge.”
“It’s pretty crazy," he continued. "I didn’t ever think I would be an action figure. I never imagined that for myself. I can’t take all the credit because the action figure isn’t me. It’s General Zod."
"That would be weird, if I actually had my own Michael Shannon action figure.”
He's right — that would be weird! Anyway, read the whole interview here.
