Montgomery County Board of Elections sends corrected sample ballots after name mix-up

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — If you received a sample ballot with the wrong name, don't worry, your vote is still safe.

The Montgomery County Board of Elections recently sent out 132,217 sample ballots to voters in Congressional District 8, and a few A’s and B’s were a bit... mismatched. Thanks to a file mix-up, some voters saw the right polling place but the wrong name.

Fear not, because the board is on it. They’re mailing corrected sample ballots to all 684,000 active voters in the county. For those who prefer digital, the correct version has already landed in your inbox (if you’re registered with an email address).

This error is just on the sample ballots. Your voter registration, mail-in voting, and ballot data are unaffected. If you have questions or just want to double-check your voter registration info, text ‘CHECK’ to 77788 or visit 777vote.org.

Oh, and heads up, Spanish-speaking voters: There was a small mistake on one page regarding early voting dates. The correct dates are Oct. 24-31.
