Nate Bargatze is set to make his primetime television debut. The popular stand up comedian will host a holiday variety special that will air on CBS this December.

The exact air date and other details will be announced at a later date. The special will air on CBS and stream live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs.

It will be taped at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, on Nov. 21. Per CBS, the special will feature Bargatze as master of ceremonies as he takes the audience through stand up, pre-taped comedy shorts, sketches, and musical performances. The special represents a homecoming for Bargatze, who previously worked at the Grand Ole Opry as an entry-level employee early in his career.

“I’m extremely excited to be creating this special as I have long been a big fan of variety, and we don’t see enough of it! I want to make a great show for families to gather around and watch together and I couldn’t be in better hands than with this team,” said Bargatze.

Bargatze is working with “Saturday Night Live’s” Mikey Day and co-head writer Streeter Seidell on the special. All three previously worked together when Bargatze hosted “SNL” last season, teaming on the “Washington’s Dream” sketch. At the time of this publishing, the sketch has pulled in over 10 million views on YouTube alone.

Bargatze is executive producing the special along with Lorne Michaels, Erin David, and Andrew Singer of Broadway Video. Tim Sarkes & Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment also executive produce.
