Netflix Renews ‘Dinner Time Live With David Chang’ For Holiday-Themed Season 2 (EXCLUSIVE)

Netflix is bringing back a new season of its cooking series “Dinner Time Live With David Chang,” and just in time for the holidays. The series’ Season 2 is set to launch on Tuesday, Oct. 8, with nine 50-minute episodes, which will roll out weekly.

On “Dinner Time Live,” the famed restauranteur (founder of the Momofuku restaurant group) “personally cooks for his celebrity friends in his kitchen in downtown Los Angeles. It’s a VIP experience where the meal, the mishaps, and the conversation all unfold in real time. No food swap-outs, no food stylists, just real how-to culinary secrets and recipes from a world-renowned chef who’s cooking live,” per the synopsis.

In focusing Season 2 on holiday-themed dishes, Chang said, “To me, the holidays are all about eating and drinking too much with your loved ones. Thankfully, so is ‘Dinner Time Live.’ I can’t wait to show love to our guests this season by cooking holiday-themed menus, serving them way too much food, and tossing in a few surprises along the way.”

The new episodes of “Dinner Time Live” will stream live on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT. It’s one of the few — perhaps the only? — shows that air on a weekly basis on Netflix, which has been experimenting with its distribution pattern as of late. (Although most series are still dropped all-at-once in a binge model, some shows — particularly unscripted — are being released in batches.)

“Dinner Time Live” also reps part of the growing trend of live programming at Netflix, which also recently included another food-related spectacle, “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef.” Netflix’s life far has included “The Roast of Tom Brady,” “Katt Williams: Woke Foke,” “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” “Joe Rogan: Burn the Boats,” “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” the “Netflix Slam” and the “Netflix Cup.” Next up are events including Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson and NFL games on Christmas Day, as well as the Netflix premiere of WWE Raw and another year of the SAG Awards.

Majordomo Media and Den of Thieves are behind “Dinner Time Live,” which debuted in January and has already produced 26 episodes this year. Exec producers include Chang, Chris Ying, Christopher Chen, Noelle Cornelio, Brandon Monk, Jesse Ignatovic, Evan Prager and Jared Morell. Monk is the showrunner. Chang previously created and starred in the Netflix series “Ugly Delicious.”
