Noah Lyles hosted a coat drive during the hometown celebration.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The city of Alexandria welcomed back a hometown hero on Sunday, and helped the community at the same time. Sprinter Noah Lyles won gold at the Paris Olympics and came back to his high school for a celebration and a coat drive.
The 27-year-old Lyles graduated from Alexandria City High School in 2016. He took home the gold in the 100 meter race in Paris. He also took home the bronze medal in the 200 meter run.
Sunday's event also featured a coat drive hosted by the Lyles Brothers Sports Foundation, and an outdoor celebration at Chinquapin Park with the Alexandria City High School band and cheerleaders.
