Although they haven’t met in person yet, Olivia Wilde is already “thrilled” to share the screen with pop superstar Charli XCX in Gregg Araki’s upcoming film “I Want Your Sex.”

“We’ve texted and I love her,” Wilde told Variety at Tuesday’s Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Luncheon in New York City. “She’s so inspiring. I am all for this explosion of female power in music. It is just such a thrill to be an audience member and I can’t wait to go see her show.”

While details about Charli’s role remain under wraps, “I Want Your Sex” follows Wilde as renowned art world firebrand Erika Tracy, who coerces a young man named Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) into being her sexual muse. What starts as a fantasy for the aspiring artist soon devolves into a spiraling nightmare, as Erkia guides him through a world of lust, power, murder and betrayal. The original script was penned by Araki and Karley Sciortino (“Now Apocalypse”).

When asked if she had given Charli any acting advice, Wilde said she “wouldn’t dare” interfere with the seasoned performer’s process.

“I mean, if she asks, of course,” Wilde said. “She’s been [performing] since she was a young teenager, I believe. She’s spent a lot more time on stage than I have and I’m sure she knows exactly what to do. Her audition was also incredible. So good. I wrote to her, ‘Of course you’re also a brilliant actress.'”

Produced by Seth Caplan and Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler, “I Want Your Sex” has yet to land on an official release date. John Friedberg, Joanne Roberts Wiles and Courtney L. Cunniff serve as the film’s executive producers.
