The 22-year-old was caught on surveillance video searching the homeowner's yard for the missing package.
SILVER SPRING, Md. — A delivery mistake landed a Silver Spring man in police custody on Thursday. A neighbor received what was described as a suspicious package and called police.
When officers arrived to the home in the 1300 block of Alderton Drive, they spoke to the homeowner who said the package contained drugs and a gun. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and found three people with flashlights searching the homeowner's yard, allegedly searching for the missing package.
Officers quickly located two male suspects and one female suspect in the yard, matching those people seen in the video. One of the male suspects ran from the scene. The other suspect, 22-year-old Kalani Ayi Abulfata Ariyibi-Sani, was armed when he was arrested.
During a search of Ariyibi-Sani following his arrest, officers located over 100 Xanax pills, two digital scales, marijuana, and a bottle of Promethazine. Ariyibi-Sani was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit where he has been charged with multiple drug and firearm charges, police said.
The female suspect, who was not identified by police, was charged with possession.
