People Are Sharing The Series With The Worst Finales, And These Networks Should Be Absolutely Ashamed Of Themselves

1 year ago 4

I can't believe this is how it ends!

Earlier this month, Redditor u/Halloween-365 asked, "What television finale had the biggest bullshit finale?" And I can't tell you how fast I ran to those comments.

NBC

From cliffhangers to unreliable narrators, here are some of the shows that left fans extremely unsatisfied:

1. Game of Thronesu/whatsadikfor

Macall B. Polay/HBO

"This is the kind of series that I would have rewatched over and over again to find more details, and enjoy it for what it was. Then they took a dump so hard on the final season/finale that I can’t even stomach going back to watch the first three seasons, which were amazing."

2. The Last Man on Earthu/Hartdog348

"Awesome show, but I didn't know they were getting canceled. They left us with a major cliffhanger that was never resolved."

3. How I Met Your Motheru/FunkyKong147

"Any and all character development was undone. Barney went back to being a womanizer, and Ted, who spent the whole series coming to terms that Robin wasn't right for him, went running back to Robin. Awful finale."

4. Pretty Little Liarsu/xBellaStrange

"I'm still mad about this one. There were so many options and chances to give this show a proper end. I think [creator I. Marlene King] really wanted to make it Spencer, but she didn't want the viewers to hate it so she found herself a lame workaround. Marlene has lost everyone's trust lol."

5. Killing Eveu/ProbablyNotADuck

David Emery / ©BBC-America / Courtesy Everett Collection

"It was absolute horse shit! Not because of the deaths that happened, but how the main death happened, and how little care was taken with it. Horse shit. That whole final season was 90 percent sloppy writing and only about 10 percent interesting character development. What a waste of great actors."

6. Scrubsu/The_Wkwied

Karen Neal / © ABC / Courtesy Everett Collection

"Ended on a great high note with a goodbye to the main cast and crew, only to be brought back for a 'final season' as a crappy spinoff disguised as Scrubs."

7. Merlinu/FlipZer0

Nick Briggs/©BBC America / courtesy Everett Collection

"Christ, don't get me started! I adored that series but the fact that we NEVER get to see Arthur and Merlin as 'Arthur and Merlin' pisses me off to no end! The last 10 minutes of the whole damn series is what we get? With Arthur acting like a brat for nine of them? Damn it!"

8. True Bloodu/BlahVans

"The books weren't great, but the show really started to go downhill the more they veered from the source material. Like in the books, Sookie pretty much has no interest in Bill past book three. And for most of the remainder of the series, until the last book, it's all about her and Eric. The show forced the Bill/Sookie relationship solely because the actors were a couple in real life.

The only good characters that show created (compared to the books) was Lafayette, Jessica, Godric, the Newlins, and Russell."

9. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Lifeu/cowboywhale9

"Complete character butchering by a resentful writer who could not write the final season 10 years earlier."

10. Los Serranou/Krauser_Kahn

"There was a once pretty famous Spanish TV sitcom called Los Serrano about a Spanish family and it ran for five years. They basically turned the plot into a shit show with the wife of the protagonist dying, two of his children involved in incest, and the other child going to juvie. It was pretty dark stuff for a comical sitcom. In the final episode the father went to end his life and when he does it, he just wakes up as if nothing happened (nothing as in, the actual whole eight seasons), it was just a dream.

That's the ending. The guy waking up at the start of the series to a normal fucking family. His children were grown up, but were put in kids clothing and hairstyles and acted like kids. It was extremely weird. To this day this is still referenced in Spain as a meme."

11. Westworldu/rdldr1

John Johnson/HBO

"Once they left the park, the show ended what appeal it had in the first place. I heard that in the last season the showrunners were reading Reddit and were dismayed about all of the predictions from fans that came true. So, the last season was all about messing with the fans for the sake of being unpredictable."

12. Penny Dreadfulu/Jimbabwe88

Jonathan Hession/©Showtime / courtesy Everett Collection

"Seasons 1 and 2 are phenomenal! I absolutely adore Penny Dreadful if we're talking about those two seasons. The third season...it had promise, but I'm almost positive Showtime had it canceled. So, [creator] John Logan had to wrap up the story quickly."

13. The Mentalistu/justanaveragemom

Colleen Hayes / ©CBS / courtesy Everett Collection

"I spent so many seasons piecing together the clues to who Red John was only to find out the writers had no clue, so they just picked someone random. It made no sense and was anticlimactic. Then they tried to continue on for another season afterward without the Red John arc. Awful."

"I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate amnesia plot lines! Hate them! It made me so mad that they ended the show that way. It should have ended with Season 4. I refuse to watch the final season when I do rewatches."

15. The Big Bang Theoryu/baxbooch

Monty Brinton / ©CBS / courtesy Everett Collection

"I hated the way they did Amy. She always had her own style and gave no fucks what anyone thought. Then in the end it was, 'Oh, I need a makeover, teehee!' It was disappointing because I felt like that show really grew in the way it portrayed women. They started with the ditsy, blonde neighbor girl. Then they developed her character beyond that trope. Then they added smart, accomplished women. Then they added actual geeky women."

16. Santa Clarita Dietu/i-am-a-salty-bitch

Saeed Adyani / ©Netflix / courtesy Ecerett Collection

"I watched the last season right when it came out and I was SO excited to see what would happen after, only to find out it was cancelled! I don’t think I've been this mad about a show-ending in a long time. I still hold a grudge against Netflix."

17. Ozarku/anyone2020

"It got more and more ludicrous as the series went on. People getting murdered in broad daylight; pretty much every single person who ever interacted with the Byrds getting murdered; and the police just, I guess, never wanted to investigate any of it? It strained credulity so much that it was no longer fun to watch."

18. Quantum Leapu/Wookiees_get_Cookies

Mario Casilli / TV Guide / ©NBC / courtesy Everett Collection

"For those who don’t know, after the last episode they just displayed a title card that read 'Dr. Sam Becket never returned home.' The character’s name for the past 5 seasons was Sam Beckett. Not only was their no actual ending, they spelled the main character’s name wrong."

19. Good Girlsu/lcl0706

Jordin Althaus / NBC / NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images

"I can relate to and empathize with the women’s descent into madness. I’ve been a poor, single mom myself. I really enjoyed the first two, even three seasons, but as it dragged on I really grew to dislike Annie. It’s very hard to repeatedly invest in a character that is just so fucking stupid and I felt bad for Ben, a lot. They should have ran with the husband’s cult shit and turned Beth in. Or Beth should have died when they led us to believe she’d been shot in the head. The revelation it was just her shoulder was so unbelievable...it was almost insulting."

20. Veronica Marsu/Princess-81

Michael Desmond / ©Hulu / Courtesy Everett Collection

"They had been through so much crap to get to where they were, could they just not let them be happy? I was so heartbroken!"

21. Vikingsu/theycallmeponcho

Jonathan Hession / ©History Channel / Courtesy Everett Collection

"Vikings should have ended with the death of Ragnar. That would have left the open book for:

* A tv movie about the revenge of Ragnar, by his sons.

* A short six to eight episode season of Bjorn and his travels. This would have had a better development with money enough for a full season about it, instead of a single trip with two undisclosed locations."

22. Sons of Anarchyu/joos11

Michael Yarish/©FX / courtesy Everett Collection

"The show was on a slow decline for several seasons. And, yes, that finale topped it off. It’s such a cop out."

23. Archive 81u/PartyPug69

"It's bad because it doesn’t have an ending. It’s a good setup for a second season, if they make one."

24. Supernaturalu/forman98

Colin Bentley / ©The CW / Courtesy Everett Collection

"Season 5 is the true end, the rest is an alternate reality. They need to restart the show, but have it act like the last 13 years didn't happen. Sam is still stuck in hell and Dean has raised kids with Lisa, and quit the life. They should've picked back up at that point, created a story about Dean being pulled back into it, and Sam being rescued."

25. Shamelessu/fouoifjefoijvnioviow

Paul Sarkis / ©Showtime / Courtesy Everett Collection

"The ending was sad because the Gallagher curse was real. Only Ian got a positive ending. Frank was right; there was no point fighting against their fate and to enjoy the ride."

26. New Girlu/HacksawJimDGN

Ray Mickshaw/© Fox / courtesy Everett Collection

"The whole show was about young people sharing a home and new relationships, breaking up, meeting new people, sexual tension, and relying on friends. Trying to close that off and transition to a group of people in steady, loving relationships was always going to be boring."

27. Lastly, Mr. Robotu/bigcheez07

Elizabeth Fisher / ©USA Network / Courtesy Everett Collection

"The whole unreliable narrator thing was fine when it was just Elliot and Mr. Robot, but adding the others and the fantasy world just became a little too much to handle. Trying to be too artistic and it kinda fell apart."
