Here's what they were charged with.
WASHINGTON — A person is under arrest and facing charges after walking up to a Secret Service agent to tell them they had a gun in their possession on Tuesday.
Just after 6 p.m., a member of the U.S. Secret Service was approached by a person near 16th Street NW and Consitution Avenue. The person claimed to have a gun in their car near the National Mall.
During a search of the car, officers found a gun inside along with a propane tank. The Metropolitan Police Department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was called to the scene to help and declared the car safe.
The individual was arrested on weapons charges and taken into police custody.
Temporary road closures were put into place during the search and recovery.
