Police are investigating a double murder in Manassas

MANASSAS, Va. — Virginia Police are investigating a double murder in Manassas. 

Police say, on Sunday at 2:39 a.m. they were called to the 8900 block of Hanson Grove Ct. for a welfare check. Upon arrival, police found a man and woman inside the basement of the home both shot dead. Police pronounced both victims dead at the scene. 

A person of interest has been detained in Brunswick, New Jersey. Officials claim this person is connected to the fatal shooting. Police say the three were known to one another and the shooting doesn't appear to be random. 

Information regarding the alleged shooter has not been released at this time. The person currently being detained has not been charged with any crime. 

Details on what led up to the shooting have not been released at this time. Police are asking anyone who has information to give them a call. 

The identities of the victims will be released once next-of-kin has been notified.
