Walter Plummer and Akiya Bagley are facing murder charges in connection to the death of Juan Roach back in June.
SUITLAND, Md. — Prince George's County Police have arrested and charged two people in connection to a fatal shooting in Suitland that claimed the life of a 16-year-old.
The suspects are 21-year-old Walter Plummer and 21-year-old Akiya Bagley. They are facing murder charges in connection to the death of Juan Roach back in June.
According to police, officers were called to Towne Park Road for a shooting on June 27. When they arrived they found Roach lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Roach was killed during a robbery.
After hearing about Roach's tragic death, community members held a meeting with Prince George's County Police Assistant Chief Vernon Hale III to air out their grievances regarding the constant crime occurring in the neighborhood.
At the end of the meeting, Hale said the police department would work harder to implement tactics to keep the neighborhood safe.
Despite police saying this was a robbery, Plummer is being charged with first and second-degree murder. Bagley is being charged with assault, accessory after the fact, and other charges. During the investigation, police said multiple people had guns during this altercation, and multiple weapons were fired.
It is unclear if a robbery occurred. However, this is an ongoing investigation and police are still seeking additional suspects connected to this incident. If you have any information you are asked to call the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
