Ambria Farmer and Desmond Barr Jr. knew each other before the shooting.
WASHINGTON — A man is in custody for allegedly shooting a woman to death at a park in Southeast D.C.
On Wednesday, police arrested 23-year-old Desmond Barr Jr. in connection to the death of Ambria Farmer. Police were called to the park near the 3300 block of Fort DuPont Drive for reports of an unconscious person on July 13, around 2:30 p.m.
When officers arrived they found Farmer suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Farmer dead.
Barr Jr. was taken into custody and is being charged with second-degree murder while armed. Farmer and Barr Jr. did know each other. During an investigation, detectives were able to confirm that this was a domestic attack.
A court date has not been set at this time.
