Police search for driver in deadly Virginia hit-and-run crash

Fairfax County Police are investigating the crash.

FORT HUNT, Va. — A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run crash Thursday morning in Virginia.

Fairfax County Police responded to a deadly crash at Route 1 and Woodlawn Trail in Fort Hunt. When they arrived, they found a man who had been struck by a vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who hit the man fled in the vehicle.

Detectives from FCPD’s Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash. Currently, southbound Route 1 is closed at Belvoir Drive.

Police have not issued a lookout or description of the person or vehicle that fled the crash. They also have not released any details about the man who died.

The area of Route 1 and Woodlawn Trail is both commercial and residential. On Route 1, there is a McDonald’s, a frozen yogurt store, a gas station, a Pizza Hut and a laundromat, among other places.  Further into Woodlawn Trail, the area is residential.
