Police search for man who lied about being maintenance worker before trying to sexually assault victim inside DC apartment

The suspect fled before police arrived.

WASHINGTON — Police are searching a man who allegedly pretending to be a maintenance worker to get inside an apartment before trying to sexually assault a person inside.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the attack happened at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of 13th Street, Northwest.

Upon arrival, the victim told officers a person had knocked on the door around 11 a.m. and claimed to be coming to perform maintenance work. The victim opened the door and once inside, the suspect tried to sexually assault the victim. 

The suspect fled before police arrived. He is a described as a 6-foot-3 man between 30 and 40 years old. He has short brown curly hair and a mustache and was last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt with black Dickies pants and black work boots which were missing laces.
