Does your car need a quick fix? Be careful who you hire.
BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Police (MCPD) says to "just say no" if someone approaches you offering to repair your car in a parking lot.
The Police Department's Second District, located in the Bethesda area, posted an alert flyer on social media on Monday. The flyer shows a silver sedan with "Got Dents?" and "Mobile Dent Repair" across its side. It also shows logos for mobile payment apps like Zelle and CashApp, and promises one-day service.
The police department cautions that people are approaching victims in parking lots and offering to repair dents on vehicles for very little money. These suspects have been spotted around shopping centers and business parks, the police department said.
Police say these mobile dent repair vehicles are scams, are not permitted in Montgomery County to do that work, and may damage your vehicle as a result.
Police say you should get in your car or walk away, and report the incident to police by calling 301-279-8000.
