LARGO, Md. — President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are set to make their first appearance together since the president ended his reelection bid, and it's happening in Prince George's County.

The White House announced Biden and Harris will visit Prince George's County Community College to discuss the work they are doing to lower prescription drug costs for the American people.

According to the White House, this visit is not a campaign stop. It is considered a White House event.

According to the Associated Press, federal officials have solidified deals to lower the price for ten of Medicare’s most expensive drugs. Details are still limited, but White House officials say they expect tax payers to save six billion dollars with these new prices.  Officials say this will have a huge impact for older Americans managing diabetes , blood cancers, and preventing heart failure. The administration shared no information as to how they arrived at the figures. The drugs include the blood thinners Xarelto and Eliquis and diabetes drugs Jardiance and Januvia. Medicare spent $50 billion covering the drugs last year.

The last time Vice President Harris was in Prince George's County was in early June on National Gun Violence Day. She attended Prince George's County Executive and Democratic Senate candidate Angela Alsobrooks' campaign rally, where Harris endorsed Alsobrooks for the Senate race.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore will be attending Thursday's event along with state congressional leaders.

The president and vice president are set to speak at 1:30 p.m. This article will be updated as we learn more about the pair's announcement.
