HYATTSVILLE, Md. — It was a day dedicated to going green. Prince George's County Department of the Environment hosted the 10th annual Green Summit in Hyattsville Saturday at David C. Driskell Community Park. The event featured food, fun, and learning about the environment. People attending got tips on gardening, recycling, electric vehicles, ways to climate-proof their homes, and more.
Several organizations were on site, such as Prince George's County SPCA, A Cat's Life Rescue, Gardening and Beats, Prince George’s County Sierra Club, Prince George's County Department of Animal Services, Prince George's and County Department of the Environment Recycling Section, Alice Ferguson Foundation, and Ultimate Sun Solar, to name a few. Free pet adoptions were available.
WUSA9 meteorologist Miri Marshall served as emcee of the event.
Hyattsville Police Department was also on hand with an electric police patrol car, and Echoes of Nature was there with turtles and a hawk.
In addition to learning about the environment, Pepco gave festival goers information about ways to make their homes energy efficient including low cost and free programs.
For those wanting something to eat there was no shortage of food around with food trucks by Mulu Fest Food Truck, Jas and Fam Caribbean Flavor, Cocineros, Lickity Split, and Baked by Bina.
