Rachel Bloom Sets One-Woman Musical Comedy ‘Death, Let Me Do My Show’ as a Netflix Special

Rachel Bloom‘s one-woman musical comedy “Death, Let Me Do My Show” is headed from off-Broadway to Netflix.

Per the official description, the show “is definitely NOT about the ever-present specter of death. Rachel Bloom’s new show is filled with raunchy and escapist material that will in NO way explore the pandemic and all the tumultuous events that ensued in her personal life. NOTHING will stop Rachel from partying like it’s 2019!”

“Death, Let Me Do My Show” is directed by Seth Barrish. Bloom premiered the show off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in September of 2023 and went on to win the 2024 Drama Desk Award for outstanding lyrics. In May, she brought the show to the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival in Los Angeles. The show opened on the mainstage at the Williamstown Theater Festival on July 5 and will close on July 14, with performances on July 12 and 13 being taped for the Netflix special, which will debut early this fall.

Bloom is best known as the creator and star of the musical comedy “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which ran on the CW for four seasons from 2015 to 2019. She and the series earned trophies at the Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and more. Bloom was also a writer on Adult Swim’s “Robot Chicken” from 2012 to 2014, and voice acted in the show until 2019. Her film credits include voice acting in “The Angry Birds Movie 2,” “Trolls World Tour” and “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.” She will guest star in the second season of the “Frasier” revival, as exclusively reported by Variety.
