‘Rick and Morty’ Anime Shorts Will Begin Streaming on Max This Week

Although “Rick and Morty” are on hiatus, there are new shorts to tide fans over until season 8 drops sometime in 2025.

Last airing in 2021, “Rick and Morty: The Anime” is back with 10 new shorts that will be released weekly starting on Aug. 15. Like the original series, the new mini-episodes are created by Japanese animation director Takashi Sano.

If you want to watch it online, “Rick and Morty: The Anime” airs in English on Adult Swim’s Toonami starting on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 12 a.m. ET/PT and streams on Max starting on Friday, Aug. 16.

The English-subtitled version in Japanese drops starting on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 12 a.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim.

How to Watch ‘Rick and Morty: The Anime’ Online

While Max doesn’t offer a free trial, the streaming service starts at $9.99/month for the ad-supported plan. To go ad-free, prices jump up to $15.99/month or $19.99/month for ad-free programming in 4K Ultra HD.

Hulu + Live TV offers a free 3-day trial, which is more than enough time to watch “Rick and Morty: The Anime” on Adult Swim online for free. You can either cancel or keep the service after the free trial is over.

Rick and Morty: The Anime” is a Japanese adaptation of the very popular animated series, “Rick and Morty.” Although it has the same premise and characters, the art style and voice cast are completely Japanese. None of the English-speaking voice cast is involved with this series. Think of it as a multiverse version of “Rick and Morty,” or something you would watch on “Interdimensional Cable.”
