Cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto will receive the Distinguished Filmmaker Award and M. David Mullen, the Mentor Award, during the International Cinematographers Guild’s annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards.

Prieto received Oscar nominations for Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “The Irishman,”  and “Silence” and And Lee’s “Brokeback Mountain.” His credits also include last year’s hit “Barbie” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” for which he earned an MTV Video Music Award. Born and Raised in Mexico, Prieto first gained attention for “Amores Perros.” Next he’s set to make his feature directorial debut with an adaptation of the novel “Pedro Paramo” by Juan Rulfo.

A three-time Emmy winner for his work on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Mullen’s contributions to education and mentoring includes co-authoring both the 3rd edition of the textbook “Cinematography” by Kris Malkiewicz and the 11th edition of “The American Cinematographer Manual.”

The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) previously announced that eight honorees will receive Emerging Cinematographer Awards. They are Dominic Bartolone, for “Sweet Santa Barbara Brown,” Adam Carboni, “INCOMPLETE;” Matthew Halla, “The Unreachable Star;” Jessica Hershatter, “Pirandello on Broadway;” Allen Ho, “Iron Lung;” Nick Mahar, “Sands of Fate;” Dylan Trivette, “Bearing Witness: A Name & A Voice;” and Andrew Trost, “Bloom.”

The ECA Awards begins with a Sept. 27 luncheon at the ASC Clubhouse followed by a showcase event on Sept. 29, at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center Wolf Theater.

Said ECA chair and past ICG president Steven Poster, “We’re excited for an event that highlights both the work of our emerging filmmakers as well as the career achievements of our special awards recipients.”
