ZEE5 Global, a streaming platform specializing in South Asian content, has reported significant success with its Telugu-language offerings.

On the eve of Telugu Language Day, Aug. 29, the platform revealed that Telugu has become one of the top Indian languages consumed by its global audience, alongside Hindi and Tamil. Oscar-winning “RRR,” along with “Karthikeya 2” and “Hanu-Man,” have set new records as among the most-watched Indian films on the platform. “RRR,” in particular, has transcended linguistic boundaries, available to viewers worldwide in multiple language options.

The platform has seen Telugu content gain traction in markets such as the U.S., U.K., Australia and Canada. In the past year, Telugu viewership accounted for 25% of all non-Hindi language content consumption on ZEE5 Global. The company also noted a 10% increase in Telugu content viewership from the first to the second quarter of this year.

Other standout titles include films like “Gaami” and “Prema Vimanam,” as well as series such as “Bahishkarana,” “Paruvu” and “Maya Bazaar – For Sale.” Notably, “Paruvu” emerged as the most-watched non-Hindi series this year, while “Hanu-Man” claimed the top spot for non-Hindi movies in 2024.

Archana Anand, chief business officer at ZEE5 Global, said: “At ZEE5 Global, we’re dedicated to bringing South Asian regional languages to a global audience, breaking down the traditional barriers between local and international content. The remarkable success of Telugu titles like ‘Paruvu’, the most-watched regional web series this year, and ‘Hanu-Man,’ the top-watched regional movie in 2024, demonstrates the power of regional stories on the world stage. We’re excited about the future and confident that Telugu and other regional content will reach new heights and establish themselves further as we expand their global presence.”

ZEE5 Global offers content across 18 Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya and Bhojpuri, as well as six international languages.
