Scott Eastwood’s New Gig Has One Goal: To Get People to Love Laundry

Scott Eastwood has taken on a lot of roles since bursting into Hollywood more than a decade ago, but the actor is taking on his most ambitious role yet, as the face — and investor — behind Laundry Sauce, a new laundry brand that pairs stain-fighting ingredients with luxury smelling scents.

Founded just after the pandemic, Laundry Sauce has quickly won over the style set and homemaking set alike, replacing basic “linen” or “citrus” scents with globally-inspired fragrances like Australian sandalwood, Egyptian rose, Italian bergamot and Indian saffron.

The scents make every load of laundry feel just a little more luxurious, and the single-use pods pair well with the brand’s dryer sheets for fresher, cleaner, better smelling clothes. The goal according to the brand: “to transform something as mundane as laundry into a platform that encourages you to step beyond the average.”

The brand’s newest product, a fabric refresher spray, launched last week, and company reps say the Laundry Sauce website sold more than 600 units in the first couple hours alone (“It’s already blown through the August projections,” the rep tells Variety, adding that “this was the single most customer requested product”).

Great for travel and home use alike, Laundry Sauce says its new refresher spray helps to “neutralize odors, release wrinkles and reduce static cling” for clothing and linens. The scents used by the brand, meantime, are reminiscent of boutique colognes and eau de parfums, all responsibly-sourced and containing natural ingredients and essential oils.

Laundry Sauce Fabric Refresher Spray

For Eastwood, the chance to partner with Laundry Sauce comes at a compelling time in his career, with the actor looking to diversify his projects — and portfolio — outside of Hollywood. “Believe it or not, I was the one who approached Laundry Sauce about investing,” he tells Variety. “I was a consumer of the brand long before I was an investor and had become obsessed with how my laundry smelled. I truly believe Laundry Sauce is innovating a stale category and making laundry fun again.”

In addition to investing, Eastwood has appeared in a series of fun and irreverent ads for Laundry Sauce, that riff off television informercials of the past. The actor, who produced and starred in the 2021 action film, “Dangerous,” says he’s been working with the Laundry Sauce creative team behind the scenes to “break all the rules” on their commercials and campaigns. “The brand has such a bold and fun ethos and we have a similar sense of humor,” he shares.

Laundry Sauce now offers everything from perfumes to candles, in addition to its detergent and accessories, and Eastwood teases more product releases to come, both for home and personal use.

While he’s had memorable turns in fan-favorite films like “The Longest Ride” and “Pacific Rim Uprising,” Eastwood says working with Laundry Sauce has given him another outlet to connect with audiences. “Unlike acting, investing in a brand is about believing in a product and helping it grow, and seeing its impact on how people experience their day-to-day lives,” he says. “When the product is truly great, it’s easy to get behind.” 

As for his own laundry habits? “I love starting the laundry… but to be honest, I’m not the greatest at the folding and putting away part,” he admits. “[I’m] still waiting for the solution for that one.”
