Shots fired at students near Coolidge High School, police say

DC Police are responding to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in the direction of a group of students in Northwest.

WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police Department officers are investigating a report of shots fired near Coolidge High School in Northwest D.C. Investigators believe the shots were fired from a vehicle in the 6300 block of 5th Street Northwest.

Police said the shots were potentially fired in the direction of a group of students. So far, no injuries have been reported as a result of this shooting. 

A public information officer with MPD told WUSA9 police are also investigating a report of a robbery near the school around the same time as the shooting. It is not clear yet if the shooting and robbery are connected. 

Police are currently on the lookout for a black Infiniti driven by a man wearing a white puffy coat and black pants. Additional details were not immediately available. A DC Public Schools spokesperson said Coolidge High School was on lockdown status briefly. The lockdown has since been lifted.
