STAFFORD, Va. — It was a doggone dramatic Sunday afternoon after two Golden Doodles were found running loose on I-95 near the Truslow Road overpass.
Stafford County deputies responded to the area and found both pups trotting along the shoulder of the highway.
The pair of escape artists were affectionately dubbed 50 Scent and L.L. Drool J by the deputies. But instead of strutting into “Da Club” or “Going Back to Cali,” these four-legged friends found themselves cornered by two determined deputies wielding catch poles. Deputies R.A. Peterson and O.J. Martins worked together to carefully corral the mischievous pups before they could take their talents any further down the interstate.
The dynamic doodle duo was then taken to the Stafford County Animal Shelter, where they await their owner. Anyone who recognizes their pets is asked to come forward.
The Stafford County Sheriff's Office shared photos of the rescued Golden Doodles on Facebook, sparking several comments. One person said, “So I guess everyone is asking who let the dogs out?” Another commenter, who had seen the dogs on the I-95 embankment, expressed relief: “We saw them on Sunday as we were heading southbound. I was so worried—happy they were saved. Great job!”
Many others joined in, praising the deputies for bringing the pups to safety.
