"Talk To Me" Is The Latest Horror Film From A24, And People Are Giving It Very, Very, Very High Praises

"Do you all remember experiencing THAT absolutely horrific, blood-run-cold moment in Hereditary for the first time? Well, there’s a sequence in Talk to Me that comes the closest in a long while to creating that dread for me."

In case you missed it — which, ya know, is understandable given all the Barbenheimer mayhem at the box office — there's actually a new horror movie in town called Talk to Me, and it comes to us from the good folks over at A24 and YouTubers-turned-filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou of RackaRacka fame.

Note: Mild spoilers ahead.

Put simply, Talk to Me follows a group of teens in Australia who decide to mess around with a very creepy, embalmed, severed hand that has connections to the dead.

And, unfortunately for them, they become kind of addicted to using it — nothing quite like a good scare "high," right? But, without giving too much away, let's just say that things get out of hand (no pun intended) pretty quickly.

The movie — which falls into the growingly popular "grief horror" category — actually made headlines earlier this year when it premiered at Sundance and launched a bidding war. And now that the film is out, well, people are actually QUITE obsessed:

1.

You know how if you love extremely spicy food, you kinda roll your eyes whenever someone says something is spicy?

But, then one dish has you drinking milk and unable to see straight?

If you roll your eyes at what other people think is scary, Talk to Me (2023) is that one dish. pic.twitter.com/FdmreSqgSU

I still cannot get over fucking #TalkToMe. I am literally still sitting here processing everything. This is my new hyperfixation and I literally am so excited for more people to watch something so original and refreshing within the horror genre. There was one point during #TalktoMe where I had to remind myself I had the option to leave at any point. I can’t remember the last time a movie made me want to leave from the sheer anxiety/tension. Better yet one that made me watch from between my fingers. Brilliant stuff! pic.twitter.com/ShLBUAtg2T

Do you all remember exepriencing that absolutely horrific, blood-run-cold moment in Hereditary for the first time? (It has to do with a head and a light post 👀) well there’s a sequence in #TalkToMe that comes the closest in a long while to creating that dread for me.

For the first time ever I contemplated walking out of the theater 😅. Mind you I was the only one at my 12pm showing. What they do with the sound and perfectly timed visuals had me so immersed that it made me the most uncomfortable I've been watching a movie in a while.#TalkToMe pic.twitter.com/hW8xzvg4kg

And some also wanted to highlight that it's a strong debut from directors Danny and Michael Philippou:

13.

#TalkToMe is one of the best original horror movies I’ve seen in the last 10 years and I’m not even exaggerating. Hearing from the Directors that this is their first feature film is absolutely mind bending. Genuinely terrifying and an absolutely killer ending.

15. But, ultimately, I think master horror filmmaker Scott Derrickson — who directed films like The Black Phone and Sinister — said it best himself:
