The "Gladiator 2" Trailer Just Dropped, And I Barely Recognized "Stranger Things" Star Joseph Quinn

Another look at Gladiator II is here, and oh are we entertained.

On Tuesday, the first trailer for director Ridley Scott's sequel to his 2000 film Gladiator dropped. This follows first-look photos published in Vanity Fair last week.

As you'll recall, the 2000 film was a smash hit, starring Russell Crowe as the former Roman general Maximus, who is forced into slavery and determined to avenge his family's murder.

The film also starred Joaquin Phoenix as the antagonistic ruler Commodus and Connie Nielsen as Lucilla, Maximus' former love interest and Commodus' older sister.

Of the three actors, Connie is the only one reported to be returning for the sequel.

This makes sense, as Paul Mescal stars in the new movie as Lucilla's estranged son Lucius.

The sequel picks up years after the first movie and has a plot that harkens back to the first film.

Like Maximus years ago, Lucius is forced into slavery following a government overthrow.

He, too, becomes a gladiator seeking revenge.

He's Marcus Acacius, a general who led the government overthrow, which destroyed Lucius' life as he knew it.

...Joseph Quinn as co-emperor Geta...

...and The White Lotus' Fred Hechinger as fellow co-emperor Caracalla.

As expected, the trailer is filled with battle scenes.

And the highly anticipated cinematic face-off between two of the internet's No. 1 boys:

And that doesn't even include fellow internet boyfriend Joseph Quinn:

So get your tickets for Gladiator II when it arrives in theaters on Nov. 22.

Yes, that's the same day as Wicked — proving that another major "Barbenheimer" moment may be on the horizon.
