Taking cues from the eternal studly Harrison Ford and his recent return to Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny — Tom hopes to share a similar future.

On July 3, the Top Gun star celebrated his 61st birthday, but to our favorite movie pilot Maverick — age is nothing but a number.

Tom celebrated the big 6-1 at the Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One premiere in Syndey, Australia, where he told The Sydney Morning Herald, he wants to keep the franchise going until he's at least as old as Harrison.

"Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going. I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him," Tom said. "I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age."

Believe it or not, Harrison Ford will be 81 years old as of July 13th.

Tom also shared his passion for the cinema and the importance of making action-adventure blockbusters like M: I — Dead Reckoning. "I grew up seeing movies on the big screen," he explained. "That’s how I make them, and I like that experience -- it’s immersive. And to have that as a community and an industry, it’s important. I still go to the movies."

It's true. He still goes to the movies. Look how cute Tom looks, representing Harrison's 42-year legacy as Indiana Jones with M: I director Christopher McQuarrie.

In June, Tom told Entertainment Tonight he's not sure when he'll stop playing the unstoppable IMF agent Ethan Hunt. "You know, I can't tell you right now," he said. "I want to enjoy this moment right now, and it's Part One and Part 2. This is a big action-adventure movie for everyone and I look forward to seeing it."

Your mission, reader, should you choose to accept it, is the check out the new Mission: Impossible in theaters on July 12.
