From Tuesday, July 9-Thursaday, July 11, DC is hosting the NATO Summit. Here's what you need to know.
WASHINGTON — Residents and commuters in D.C. should brace for significant disruptions in the coming days as the District gears up for the NATO Summit.
With several road closures, parking restrictions, and ramped-up security measures, navigating the city from Tuesday, July 9 through Thursday, July 11 will be a challenge.
Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the curve and minimize the impact on your daily routine, according to MPD:
In addition, Metro will be impacted by the summit. Security zones around both the Washington Convention Center and the International Trade Center will close off several streets.
The following streets will be closed to buses during the summit:
- New York Avenue between 11th and 6th Streets, NW
- 15th Street between H Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
- Madison Drive between 15th and 12th Streets, NW
- 12th Street between E Street, NW and Madison Drive, NW
- Constitution Avenue between 9th and 15th Streets, NW
- 10th Street between Constitution and E Street, NW
- Pennsylvania Avenue between 8th and 15th Streets, NW
- 11th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW
- E Street between 11th and 12th Streets, NW
- 12th Street between E Street and Madison Drive, NW
Metro will also close two train stations including Federal Triangle from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on July 9 and Mt Vernon Square will be closed from 11 a.m. July 9 through 5 a.m. July 12. Trains will skip both stations during this time.
