Universal Studio Group has promoted Jonder Ho to senior vice president of business affairs.

In his new role, Ho will negotiate writer, actor, director and other above-the-line deals for the studio group — which includes Universal Television, UCP, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Universal International Studios — with a focus on productions, including “Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” “Hacks” and NBCU’s untitled Greg Daniels/Michael Koman project.

Ho will also act as a direct liaison with the relevant stakeholders, both externally and within the studio, including development, current programming, casting, production, legal and more.

Most recently, Ho was vice president of business affairs for USG’s Universal Television. He has been with the studio, which is led by chairman Pearlena Igbokwe, for eight years.

As senior vice president of business affairs for USG, Ho will report directly to Universal Studio Group’s global head of business affairs Blossom Lefcourt.

“Jonder has been a tremendous asset to Universal Studio Group, and we’re pleased to expand his role,” Lefcourt said. “Over the past eight years, he has negotiated high-profile talent and programming deals to support all stakeholders and help build our extensive slate.”

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Ho spent two years as the head of business affairs at VR content startup company founded by Robert Stromberg, the Academy Award-winning production designer of “Avatar and Alice in Wonderland.” Ho began his career as an associate at the law firm Morrison Foerster.

Ho is a graduate of Pomona College and obtained his law degree from the University of Southern California.
