NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A woman in Nashville is safe thanks to the efforts of legendary rock star Jon Bon Jovi and others after they showed care and concern for a stranger who appeared to be in distress on the ledge of a bridge.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shared video of the incident.

In the video, Bon Jovi and others with him are seen walking down the Segenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River on Tuesday evening when they came across a woman who was on the edge of the bridge on the opposite side of the railing.

Police said the woman was distraught. Bon Jovi and another woman with him approached the woman and began talking to her. In the video, the woman with Bon Jovi tried to show the other woman comfort by placing a hand on her shoulder as they talked.

A few moments later, Bon Jovi and others helped the woman over onto the other side of the railing. Bon Jovi could be seen hugging her after she was safely on the other side. The group began talking with her for a few moments before everyone walked down the bridge together.

"A shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge Tue night. Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety. "It takes all of us to help keep each other safe," MNPD Chief John Drake said.
