WASHINGTON — A Virginia man is dead after being hit by a truck near Oakton Shopping Center over the weekend. Investigators are still working to learn exactly what happened.

Police were called to the intersection of Hunter Mill Road and Lynnhaven Place before 9 a.m. on Saturday. Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that 80-year-old Choon Kook of Vienna was in the crosswalk when he was hit by the driver of a Ford F-150 who was attempting to make a turn into the shopping center.

Kook was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was later pronounced dead. Investigators do not think speed or alcohol were factors in the collision. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, police said.

The driver of the truck remained on scene. So far, no arrests have been made.
