The suspect turned himself into police.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — A man is in custody in connection to a shooting early Wednesday morning that left two people injured. Investigators say the man also ran over a woman with his car before leaving the area.
Just after 1 a.m., officers responded to the area of Ashby Drive in Fredericksburg for a reported shooting. Once there, officers found two people, a man and woman, who had been shot multiple times. The victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment after the shooting. Both victims are expected to survive.
Witnesses told police that a man arrived at the home where several people were and was asked to leave. When he refused, he got into an argument with several people in the front yard of the home. He then pulled out a gun and shot two people multiple times.
While leaving the house, the suspect then drove over a woman in his car who had also been shot.
He later turned himself over to police.
He was identified as Joseph Alfonza Jackson, 43, of Spotsylvania and arrested. He is charged with three counts of malicious wounding.
Jackson is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
