Nelson Romero-Quijada was extradited back to Prince William County last week.
MANASSAS, Va. — A man who has been wanted by police since 2018 on charges of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old in Virginia was arrested in El Salvador, the Prince William County Police Department said Wednesday.
Nelson Romero-Quijada has been sought by authorities after they opened an investigation on Aug. 13, 2018 in Manassas. By September of that year, police had identified Romero-Quijada as the suspect wanted for sexually assaulting the boy.
The alleged assaults took place between October 2014 and July 2016. The victim came forward to his family in 2018, who immediately contacted police.
After Romero-Quijada was arrested in El Salvador, he was extradited back to Prince William County on Thursday.
He's being held without on bond on charges of sodomy and crimes against nature.
