One state leads the way by far on Team USA.
WASHINGTON — Team USA will be sending a roster to the Summer Olympics that represents 46 states and spans ages 16 to 59.
The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee announced on July 10 the 592-member contingent that would be heading to Paris for the Games.
The lineup, for the fourth consecutive Summer Games, features more women than men - a split of 314 to 278.
When it comes to hometown representation, California leads the way by far with 120 athletes. That's followed by Florida (42), Texas (41), Illinois and Pennsylvania (27).
Team USA's list includes each athletes' recognized hometowns, so may not include other places they've lived throughout their lives.
Who is the youngest and oldest on Team USA for the Paris Olympics?
There are three 16-year-olds heading to Paris representing Team USA, with artistic gymnast Hezly Rivera the youngest of the trio. Maryland 16-year-old Quincy Wilson is the youngest U.S. male track & field athlete to make an Olympic team and 16-year-old Paige Heyn will represent the U.S. in women's skateboard street.
The oldest athlete is equestrian Steffan Peters at 59. He, along with fellow equestrian McLain Ward and basketball star Diana Taurasi, are all appearing in their fifth Olympics.
