Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid has agreed to a new three-year, $42 million deal with a player option, his agents Sean Kennedy and Jeff Schwartz of Excel Basketball told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday.

Reid originally went undrafted out of LSU in 2019, and then was quickly snapped up by the Timberwolves that offseason. He's gone on to develop into an impressive off-the-bench option behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in Minnesota's frontcourt, averaging 11.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while also shooting 53.7 percent overall and knocking down 34.6 percent of his 3-point attempts per game.

Reid, who will turn 24 in August, was an unrestricted free agent despite his age because he signed a four-year deal with Minnesota entering his rookie year, just as Jalen Brunson was when he left Dallas for the New York Knicks last summer.

Minnesota felt Reid's absence down the stretch and in its play-in loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and its first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets after Reid suffered a fractured left wrist late in the regular season against the Phoenix Suns.

ESPN's Tim Bontemps contributed to this report.
