This is reportedly not the first time Sabrina Embrey has pepper sprayed the child.
LA PLATA, Md. — A Maryland woman was sentenced to jail time for second-degree child abuse and second-degree assault on Thursday.
Sabrina Cocheye Embrey was sentenced to six months in jail for an incident that occurred in the fall of 2023. On October 3, 2023, officers responded to a home in Waldorf, when they arrived, they found a 12-year-old who had been pepper sprayed.
An investigation revealed that Embrey and the child had gotten into an argument in Embrey's bedroom. As the argument continued to escalate, Embrey threatened to pepper spray the child so he left her room.
Rather than let it go, Embrey followed the boy into his room. This caused a reportedly aggressive reaction from the child, at which point Embrey pepper sprayed him.
This is allegedly not the first time Embrey has pepper sprayed the child. In a previous incident under similar circumstances, Child Protective Services were called and they warned Embrey not to do that again.
During the trial, Assistant State's Attorney Blaec Shaw said that Embrey "very clearly antagonized the victim throughout the incident” and that she took “action both physically and mentally that will forever affect [the victim].”
Once released, Embrey will be placed on supervised probation for three years.
