Yes, That Was Rob Brydon At The UK "Barbie" Premiere – Here's The Role He'll Be Playing In The Film

"I was so excited last night, I didn’t get to sleep ’til half past ten.”

Sure, sure, we all know how it's supposed to work in Barbieland. "She's everything... He's just Ken," the promotional materials say.

Warner Bros.

Still, that hasn't stopped fans everywhere (myself very much included) from focusing on the Kenergy of the whole movie.

Ryan Gosling says when he was offered the role of Ken in ‘BARBIE’ “I walk out in the backyard and, do you know where I found Ken? Face down in the mud next to a squished lemon.”

Gosling sent the photo to Greta Gerwig saying, “I shall be your Ken, for this story must be told.” pic.twitter.com/ACUQ2p07QT

Fans will probably know that the movie contains multiple Barbies, including Dua Lipa, Hari Nef, Emma Mackey, and loads more.

And while many of us are excited about the Ken actors in the film, like Kingsley Ben-Adir, Simu Liu, and Ncuti Gatwa, it seems that lots of us missed the memo on a British appearance that only became clear to many last night.

Yesterday, the UK premier of the Barbie movie took place. And while many focused on the stunning fashion...

In fact, some wondered if the blurry figure seen in early photos was really him (it was).

It turns out that the Welsh actor has a role as a "Sugar Daddy Ken" in the movie (how did I miss this?!).

In fact, it came about because Margot Robbie is apparently a big fan of Gavin and Stacey, a TV show in which Rob Brydon played Uncle Bryn.

What's occurin'?

"I think this (role) came about because I had a message a few years ago that Margot Robbie was a big fan of Uncle Bryn and would I record a message for her birthday," the actor told Virgin Radio.

BBC

"So I recorded a video for her. I think maybe this part is her way of saying thank you. I said, ‘Hello Margot. I've loved you in all your films and I'll tell you for why...’ So when I met her on the set, she said, 'Ah, thank you so much for that message…' So that was quite nice,” he said.

Apparently, his role is short. "My wife and I are in a debate whether I'll be in it for three seconds or four seconds. I mean, all modesty aside, it's going to be very brief," he told Virgin Radio.

Nonetheless, many of us were delighted to see him at the premier. Here are some of our fave responses:
