DMV foodies, rejoice! Black Restaurant Week is back to turn our tastebuds into a symphony of flavor. Get ready to eat, tweet, and repeat!
WASHINGTON — As the DMV heats up this summer, so does its culinary scene with a sizzling event making a triumphant return: Black Restaurant Week!
Get ready to tantalize your taste buds as D.C., Maryland, and Virginia gear up to showcase their diverse flavors and vibrant culture through a delicious lineup of participating restaurants.
The 5th annual campaign will be held from July 14 through July 28. Discover Black-owned and operated restaurants, bakeries, food trucks and more in your neighborhood as they offer sweet deals and prix fixe menus in honor of the annual event.
Here's a look the participating restaurants:
DC-
- Get two slices and a drink for $10.25 at this casual eatery.
Makers Union (Cathedral Commons)
- Specials include a $25 lunch menu or a $40 dinner menu with a choice one appetizer, one entree, and a dessert.
- Items featured on the menu include a watermelon and mango salad, crispy brussels sprouts, Nashville hot chicken tenders, chicken alfredo, diablo pasta, Flatiron steak, and more.
Oohhs & Aahhs (Georgia Avenue)
"We strive to preserve black culture, using our talents in the genre of soul food. We stand with those peacefully protesting injustice, fighting against hatred & racism and working to create an inclusive community for all."
- The Soul Food restaurant founded in 2003 will be offering several specials including a two meat entree for $43.95, fried seafood platter for $38.95, cocktail specials, and combination specials.
- The casual American restaurant is serving up a three-course, prix fixe dinner deal for $55 per person.
- Menu items include deviled eggs, cheese flat bread, seared salmon, roasted chicken, Cajun pasta, and wildberry cobbler.
- The American restaurant is known for its wood-fired pizzas, mini burgers, salads, and more.
- In honor of Black Restaurant Week, the restaurant is offering a two-course lunch menu for $25 per person and a three-course dinner menu for $40 per person.
- The Louisiana Creole restaurant creates unique dishes and craft cocktails inspired by the diverse cultures and creole cookery of New Orleans.
- So far, no deals have been mentioned in honor of Black Restaurant Week.
The Southern brunch restaurant features dishes like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, Rum Chata French toast, and more.
They will be offering up a three-course dinner menu for $40 per person.
Maryland-
- The restaurant serving Creole food in Maryland hasn't posted any specific deals in honor of Black Restaurant Week but it's featured on the list.
"Spice aims to celebrate the beauty in Black people through sharing the gem that is West African street food."
- No specific deals have been mentioned.
- Menu items include spice honey wings, Suya lamp chops, Asun egg rolls, plantains, and more.
Matchbox (Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville)
Virginia-
Big Buns (Vienna, Reston, Shirlington, Ballston)
- The fast-causal restaurant specializes in burgers, shakes, and craft beer.
- In honor of Black Restaurant Week, the restaurant is offering a lunch menu for $25 per person and a dinner menu for $40 per person.
