17 Times Hollywood Simply Could Not Let A TV Show Or Movie Franchise End

There are obviously spoilers ahead! 

1. First, Ted Lasso felt like it came to a very natural conclusion with Season 3. However, it was recently revealed it will be returning for Season 4, with several main cast members reportedly expected to return, and I'm not sure it's necessary now.

2. The Toy Story movies were a perfect trilogy. In fact, Toy Story 3 had one of the best (and most heartbreaking) endings for a movie trilogy, in my opinion. However, there have now been two more movies, which make it feel like my tears were for nothing.

3. Big Little Lies was a perfect limited series with a brilliant cast. And while Season 2 featured Meryl Streep joining the already star-studded cast, the show should've never gone past Season 1.

4. The first two seasons of Euphoria were appointment TV for me because I loved watching live with everyone on the internet and seeing the memes and discourse. But I really think the show doesn't need a Season 3 at this point.

5. The first two Home Alone movies remain classic Christmas movies to this day. However, Hollywood somehow decided to make four more movies after Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Macaulay Culkin wasn't even in them.

6. Grey's Anatomy will always be one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I stuck with it after Sandra Oh's Cristina left, when Patrick Dempsey's Derek died, and even when Ellen Pompeo cut back her involvement as Meredith, but now I'm begging for a final season.

7. Frozen should've been a standalone movie, but I didn't mind Frozen 2. However, the fact that we are now getting Frozen 3, and possibly Frozen 4, seems a little much.

8. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke notably left the series after Season 5, which concluded the original five-season arc for the show he envisioned. And personally, the Season 5 finale would've made a better series finale than Season 15.

9. The Indiana Jones movies should've just remained a great trilogy, with Harrison Ford hanging up Indy's iconic hat after The Last Crusade. But no, we've now gotten two more movies since 1989.

10. The first season of The Handmaid's Tale was enthralling, terrifying, and must-watch TV. But the show really lost me after Season 2, and now it has been two years since Season 5, and the sixth season is still on the way but hasn't even filmed yet.

11. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies remain three of my favorite movies of all time. But, notice I said THREE, because this movie franchise should've stopped after At World's End.

12. The Walking Dead is one of my favorite shows of all time, but even I can see that the series should've ended after Andrew Lincoln left. And now, even though the show has ended, we still have several spinoff series.

13. Squid Game would've been a perfect limited series. That's it. It should never have gotten a second season because Episode 9 perfectly completed the story but also left us with questions I don't really need the answer to.

14. Although controversial, 13 Reasons Why should've been a limited series that ended after the Season 1 finale. Instead, Netflix kept renewing it, and we got three more seasons that were completely unnecessary and a series finale that was not good.

15. Dexter delivered some of the most jaw-dropping TV moments of all time. However, the original series overstayed its welcome — and could've ended after Season 6 — and now there was a limited series, an upcoming prequel, and ANOTHER spinoff series.

16. For All Mankind is one of my favorite underrated shows to tell people to watch. Seasons 1–3 are top-tier television in my book. However, Season 4 kind of lost me, and now I'm wondering if the show has overstayed its welcome.

17. And finally, the first three seasons of American Horror Story remain some of the best TV. Murder House, Asylum, and Coven are legendary. But somehow, we're now on Season 12, and it's just not good anymore.
