All five of the victims are expected to survive after being shot Friday night.
WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after five people were shot in Southeast D.C. Friday evening.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened in the 900 block of Varney Street Southeast shortly before 7:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found five people had been shot. All five victims were conscious and breathing when first responders went to treat them.
The victims have only been identified as three women and two men.
Very little is known about the shooting. Police have not released any information regarding the gunman at this time. There is no word regarding what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting.
