Police are asking for the public's help to find the man responsible.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Police are asking for the public's help after woman escaped what they are calling an attempted abduction in Alexandria.
Alexandria Police say it happened at Tarleton Park off S. Gordon Street and Wheeler Avenue around 7 p.m. Tuesday. A woman told officers who arrived there that a White man with brown hair, a blue sweatshirt and camouflage shorts tried to pull her into a wooded area.
Police say the woman was able to escape, and the man ran off. The police department responded to the area with K-9s and a helicopter to try to find the man, but were unsuccessful.
Now police are asking neighbors who live near the park to check surveillance cameras for video of what happened. Anyone who saw anything suspicious should contact police at 703-746-4444.

Units have cleared the scene and are asking anyone who may have been in the area, and those nearby residents who have surveillance cameras, to reach out if they noticed anything or anyone suspicious.
