Beginning Aug. 25 the Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park will be temporarily closed until further notice.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A popular residential park in Alexandria is temporarily being closed.
The city announced Sunday that the Judy Lowe Neighborhood Park will be temporarily closed until further notice. This comes as a request from the United States Secret Service so they can provide security to a Secret Service protectee.
The block of E. Del Ray Avenue between Commonwealth and Clyde Avenue has been closed off and is restricted to resident traffic only.
Residents in that area can expect to see an increase in police presence, specifically by the US Secret Service. The park perimeter will be barricaded and monitored 24/7 by law enforcement.
Street parking along E. Del Ray Ave. or the east side of the 2200 block of Commonwealth Avenue will be prohibited.
Bike lanes and sidewalks along Commonwealth Ave. will remain open to the public. Residents along E. Del Ray Ave and their guests will be free to come and go with little interruption from Secret Service or Alexandria Police.
Residents with questions regarding the street and park closure are asked to contact Alex311.
