First responders were called to the 1400 block of Water Street Southeast Monday night after a person went into the water and did not resurface.
WASHINGTON — A search mission has turned into a death investigation after a body was pulled from the water near District Yacht Club in Southeast D.C.
According to DC Fire and EMS, first responders were called to the 1400 block of Water Street Southeast Monday night, after a person went into the water and did not resurface.
Dive teams arrived and began to search for the man who reportedly fell from a boat. After searching for approximately 90 minutes, the mission turned from search to recovery.
Fireboats and Metropolitan Police Department Harbor vessels remained in the area as Maryland State Police aided via the department's helicopter.
A short time later, MPD announced a body had been pulled from the water and the search and recovery mission had turned into a death investigation.
The man who fell into the water has not been identified.
