FORT HUNT, Va. — A woman was pulled from a turned-over car in the Potomac River Wednesday night and taken to a hospital, after bystanders saw she was trapped.
"She got out safely with minor injuries," Fairfax County Fire / Rescue said Wednesday night. "The car remains in the river as crews work to remove it."
The crash happened off of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, near the intersection with Waynewood Boulevard in Fort Hunt at around 7 p.m..
In a picture released by first responders, the car appears in the Potomac River upside-down and partially underwater. Fire officials said the injured woman was the only person inside the car.

The cause of the accident is under investigation as crews work to remove the car from the river.
