Firefighters said one person was trapped inside one of the cars and had to be pulled to safety.
WASHINGTON — A Labor Day crash sent five people to the hospital early Monday. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. When first responders got to the scene, they found one vehicle on its side and one person trapped.
According to a spokesperson for DC Fire and EMS, firefighters were called to the 2900 block of 13th street Northwest for the report of a crash involving two vehicles at around 2:20 a.m. That's not far from the Columbia Heights Metro station. Once crews got to the scene, the saw a small fire had been put out before they got there. They also worked to free the trapped person from the wreckage.
In all, four men and one woman were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious.
Investigators are still working to learn what led up to the crash. A cause has not been determined. Additional details were not immediately available.
