DC Bike Ride gives you an opportunity to positively impact your community, engage in sustainable practices, and have some fun!
WASHINGTON —
This weekend, you can experience the annual DC Bike Ride — the Districts only social ride that is car-free and open to all ages. Best of all, by participating, you will have a positive impact on your community.
The 20-mile course showcases some of the best sights the District has to offer. The ride is open to different experience levels and provides a unique way to learn more about sustainability.
"The mission behind DC Bike Ride is not only to have people come out on bikes and have fun, but it's about accessibility, sustainability, and really just that inclusiveness," Danielle Ruiz with DC Bike Ride says.
DC Bike Ride features Pedal for a Purpose — a way to raise funds for Dreaming Out Loud, a local nonprofit urban farm dedicated to providing fresh produce to underserved areas in the nation's capital. DC Bike Ride has also donated 200 bikes to DC Public School students. Plus, if you've been thinking about making the eco-friendly change of biking to work instead of driving, this gives you a chance to practice. "This is a really sustainable way to get people around the District,” says Ruiz.
If you want to join in on the fun but don't have a bike, rentals are available. Registration is open through Friday so there’s still plenty of time to sign up and join in on the fun. Click here to register.
