WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are investigating a barricade on Mississippi Avenue.
Very little details have been released, here is what we know so far.
Police were called to the 2100 block of Mississippi Ave, SE just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, for reports of a man with a gun.
When officers arrived a physical altercation took place between a man and one of the officers. The officer suffered minor injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.
Following the altercation the man barricaded himself inside of an apartment building.
Road closures have been put into place for the following streets:
- 1800 – 2100 blocks of Mississippi Ave SE between 18th St & Southern Ave
- 2000 – 2200 blocks of Southern Ave between 23rd St & Valley Terr SE.
- 3600 block of 22nd St at Southern Ave SE
Metro has issued an alert the 32 bus will begin detouring at Southern Ave and 23rd Street, resuming regular route at Southern Avenue Station due to the ongoing investigation.
Police are asking the public to stay away from the area and seek alternative routes.
