Z, who apparently didn’t want Sam to work on that show in the first place, was getting increasingly concerned about how she, one of his best-known collaborators, would get swept up in the backlash about his allegedly “toxic” ways of working on set.

“Her image is pristine,” an anonymous executive told the Hollywood Reporter. “And fans were turning against Sam.”
